The Victorian Department of Health initiated a Health Information Workforce Strategy project to address current health information workforce (HIW) shortages, lessen the impact of future national reform on this workforce, and meet future demands for a skilled and appropriate mix of this workforce. The HIW workforce, comprising of Health Information Managers (HIM) and Clinical Coders (CC), is critical to the successful implementation of national health reform and Activity Based Funding (ABF).
